The Second Kind Of Freedom
I've been looking at this all wrong. We all have.
Here, let me explain.
Freedom. What is freedom?
Well, there's two different kinds. One, is freedom FROM something. The other is freedom TO DO something you couldn't do before.
Yeah? Positive and negative freedom. Everyone tends to think of negative freedom. Freedom as the removal or this tyranny, or that tyranny.
Negative freedom is freedom from something bad. The civil rights movement, for instance, is a case of people fighting for negative freedom. Freedom from discrimination, freedom from inequality. Freedom from.
That's not to say it's not important, it is. But there's also another kind of freedom.
Freedom to. Freedom TO. That's something different.
Freedom TO is the addition of an option you never had before. If you are suddenly granted a pair of wings, that's not freedom from not having wings. It's freedom TO. Freedom to fly.
You don't have to fly. You can just sort of sit there. But you can, if you want, spread your new wings and take off. If you want. You don't have to. You just have the option to. The freedom to.
Freedom to.
Enlightenment is classically seen - and we have seen it, including myself, from the start - as freedom FROM. We've been looking for the end of suffering, freedom from suffering.
The problem with freedom FROM is that unless something VERY intense happens, you'll never fully root out the thing you want freedom from.
Racism is a good example. Did the Civil Rights movement deliver freedom FROM racism? Well, it definitely reduced the tyranny of it, absolutely. But no, there's still racism.
What it did deliver is freedom TO. With the new laws passed against discrimination, and the groundswell of public support for their cause it meant that black people had a new option, they were free TO live in ways that had previously been blocked to them.
Freedom TO.
Does liberation + gate + void end deliver freedom FROM suffering?
Nope.
Does it help?
Yup.
Does it deliver any FREEDOM TO's?
I would argue that with this eternal stuff, yes. Yes it does. It is brilliantly delivering a very CLEAR freedom TO for me.
The freedom to be cool. The freedom to be chill. The freedom to be balanced. The freedom to focus. The freedom to be open. The freedom to empathise. The freedom to apologise. The freedom to live an emotionally balanced life.
Yeah?
Now. I want RT to shift it's entire focus, philosophically, and in terms of what it attempts to deliver away from negative freedom, and toward positive freedom.
I want people to PERSONALLY start developing it in this direction in themselves. What can you USE to give you an OPTION you didn't have before.
Stability. Cool. Focus.
Not too shoddy for Ciaran.
Because that way, when we start broaching the Self Help stuff, we have real shit that we can really deliver on. And....
I think we'll all enjoy this a lot more.
We cannot forever remain hostages to Hell, slaving away to put out every single fire. Instead, we work to see what we can develop, what good things we can now do, and cultivate in our lives and others.
We have to stop trying to end suffering. Human cool, emotional balance, calm focus, chill living.
Sure - all this shit?
It allows us to see the eternal continuity underlying all things. Sounds fancy, but.. All it really does is take the edge off..
And all THAT does, (taking the edge off things) is allow you to get a bit of flow going.
Yeah? So you can be upset, but instead of that sticking and becoming this 'set piece thing', you see the continuity of reality through it all.
So... what? You can kind of just see the flow of things - just a little bit. No lights from on high, no cosmic download. Just seeing the flow, just a little bit, of things.
What does this allow us to do? Well, if we're still chasing negative freedom, we focus on the flow, and try to get it SO BIG that it washes away everything else.
Anyone having any luck with that? No? Me neither.
There is another option. To use that little thing, that little (but real) flow to smooth things through. Yeah? Just that. To smooth feelings and thoughts through, just a little bit.
And then just sort of cultivate that. That's all I've been doing, and it is working so well. I really do feel so together, more than I have ever done. But it's not manic, it's just normal, but smooth, cool. Something can faze me, yeah - but then I can just kind of smooth it though - just a little, just as much as I can - and then it's cool again, and I get perspective on things very fast.
I am not being emotionally stable, calm, collected and together now because I have decided this is the best way to go.
I always knew it was the best way to go. I think we all do.
I'm doing it now because for the first time in my life, I CAN.
This is FREEDOM TO.
Freedom TO be calm, cool, focused. To live life with a smoothness and verve. With enough (just a little) detachment from things to get some good idea about them, and enough engagement to be fully plugged into and loving, my own life.
Freedom TO.
People. Put down your fucking fire-extinguishers. STOP TRYING TO GET FREE FROM SUFFERING. STOP IT.
Freedom to. Freedom to. Freedom to.
It's really easy. I think this is what Jesus meant with all that "mustard seed" shit. Start small, the little, tiny bit of flow the eternal grants you. Just use it to start smoothing shit out, just a little. Gets things flowing, faster than you might think.
Also - I'm very curious to see if we can just DROP the entire void thing, and go straight from the gate to the eternal.
We can always have the void shit on standby if someone has SERIOUS emotional issues that need urgent space around them - but I think the vast majority of people could just skip that step.
Go from gate to eternal. See the thing, see the eternity of the thing, use that to smooth shit out.
Something like that. It's just that in what I'm actually doing, that void stuff (deep looking into the absence of self) actually plays no role.
I'm just not using it. What I am using is a very LOW LEVEL looking into the flow of the absence of self, a flow which is always there. It doesn't put the suffering (or excitement or any content really) out.
What it does is just smooth it, link it up to everything else that's happened, in a low-level way. And that seems to be all it needs, and over quite a short period of time, maybe 2 months? I've been able to really get a hold of my shit in a way I never have before.
So yeah, try dropping all that void shit, including the brute force stuff in the original "Eternal Void" article. I don't think you need it.
Just use the eternal (you do need to see that, it's not a struggle, just the kind of eternal aspect of no self) and then you can smooth through shit. Opens up a whole new angle on this, where you can develop a serious level of emotional balance, intellectual clarity, a really chill way that you come across....
And none of it takes effort to maintain, it just kind of seems to naturally happen when you're cultivating that flow, just in that little way of seeing the constant that flows through all the stuff.
Yeah? This is working. Really. It's really working for me, it's been working really well for a while. So yeah, this is great, do this.
But also - positive freedom? We can sell positive freedom with a clean conscience. Freedom from? That shit just needs to get done. Freedom to? That's a new option. People get to choose. And it's something new, something we really can deliver to people.... as long as we cultivate it in ourselves first.
It all starts with the Gate, but this is somewhere to take it that is really paying dividends for me. You guys must have noticed that I'm suddenly not as mental. I have. If this shit can cool me down, ain't none of you motherfuckers going to find it doesn't work, because none of you motherfuckers is more mental than I am.
Yeah? You seeing this? We need this, this is what we are delivering to the people who are going to pay to hear us speak at seminars and training sessions, over the phone, and in one-on-one meetings. This is what we have to deliver to the people who will buy our products, videos, audio, everything.
Chill. Real chill. But better than that - the option to cultivate chill. It's not something we force, or fake. We're developing this shit right down at the very level of the human source code, so it's totally genuine.
Genuine chill. Genuine emotional cool. Genuine balance. Genuine clarity.
Yeah? Get cultivating, you lazy bastards - because hear this - I will not be hiring ANYONE who has not done this, or is incapable of delivering it.
We're not here to give people the gate. The gate is true - but it won't sort your shit out.
This will sort your shit out. So let's all get on this. Right now. And a great way to do it is to get involved in trying to liberate people, and as you do, just work to chill yourself out using this new eternal stuff. Fuck the void shit, that's old news. This is much better. Get on it.
Something worth mentioning?
